Women and Girls's Stories Through the Art of Photography
My Art Media Lab invites you to our "Women and Girls's Stories Through the Art of Photography" course, where you'll master the art of narrating women's stories through photography, advocacy practices, and essential photography skills.
This photovoice course covers:
- Women and girls’ photography regulations and ethics
- Photo shooting skills
- Advocacy ethics and techniques
- Visual storytelling and testimony
- Using social media to share your work and influence policymakers
A camera is a powerful tool for advocacy, allowing you to become the voice for the voiceless, particularly women and children, whose issues are often overlooked. This course teaches you not only how to photograph but also how to reveal the hidden and neglected aspects of women's and children's lives, making a positive impact on viewers.

Course Instructor: Elaheh Shahbazi
Elaheh Shahbazi received her MA in Art Research with concentration on Cinema Studies from Azad University of Tehran in 1997. In addition to serving as Chair of Cinema Department at Soureh University, Ms. Shahbazi taught courses in Cinema and Photography for over a decade, during which time she published two books on photography. Professor Shahbazi’s books have been adapted as a major textbook in the field. While Professor Shahbazi’s academic endowers include Vise President of Education at Soroosh University and President of University of Applied Science and Technology, her heart has always lived within the artistic and practical application of photography. She is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker who has served as juror in over a dozen festivals in and out of Iran. Ms. Shahbazi migrated to Canada in 2015 where she continues her work as photographer, filmmaker and editor.
